What is Cala Luna

The area has a bar (with a slightly more expensive menu) and even showers. Besides the gorgeous beach, there are lots of hiking opportunities and a small pier for a boat which take you here from Cala Gonome, Santa Maria Navarese or Arbatax.
How to get to Cala Luna

One way to get to Cala Luna is by hiking along the scenic coastal path from the nearby town Cala Gonome. This hike takes you through breathtaking landscapes, including limestone plateaus and lush Mediterranean vegetation. Along the way, you’ll encounter impressive rock formations and panoramic viewpoints that will leave you in awe.
The hiking trail, however, is quite challenging, marked by steep inclines, rocky terrain, and can be a bit tough to navigate. I strongly advise wearing sturdy boots and ensuring you have an ample supply of water. The trek from Cala Gonome to Cala Luna typically takes about 3 hours, while the return journey is comparatively easier and can be completed in roughly half the time.
Starting right from the parking area, you’ll notice the striking Cala Fuili rock, which offers its own share of beauty if you decide not to venture to Cala Luna. A short distance away, there’s another tiny beach, though it tends to get quite crowded.
If hiking isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Another option is to take a boat tour from one of the neighbouring ports – Cala Gonome, Santa Maria Navarrese or, for example, Arbatax. While the boats are great, they go back before the sunset which is a shame.
The beautiful sunrise
If you are a bit of an adventurer and have time, sleep on the beach. Now this isn’t allowed but is normally practised. I would recommend being in a lager group, just in case. The sunset and sunrise are beautiful and you will definitely not regret seeing them. You will also be on the beach without tourists who will arrive at eleven by a boat. The beach then gets quite crowded but is definitely worth the hype!
