The forgotten Westen-super-mare

Westen-super-mare seems to me like a bigger Barry Island. There are arcades, long beach and a small city located right next to it. Fish and chips are the must and so is the promenade.

I felt very nostalgic in Weston-super-mare. It seemed to me like a little forgotten city where the time stops. it is commonly known as Weston and it is located in England, just by the Bristol channel. It used to be a very popular summer destination, a bit like a Tenby but smaller.

Grand Pier

It is known mostly for its Grand Pier that has been recently renovated. You will pay one pound for the entrance on the pier. At the end of it there are arcades where all the attractions can be found as well as a small cafe and a restaurant. It was closed for a bit because of a fire in 2008 and the reconstruction took around two years. What is very nice though is the promenade that is quite long and so is the beach.

Fun and attractions

Between April and September there is a festival called Sand Sculpture Festival which is the biggest sand sculpture festival in the UK. Next attraction is for example the Weston museum. There are also amusement parks such as Puxton and Contry Farm that are mainly focused on families with children.

Is the city any good?

The city itself has not much to offer. It is a typical English small city with some shops and restaurants. You might want to try ice-cream or fish and chips. As I was not lucky and it rained while my visit, I ended up in Costa Coffee to get a bit warm at least. I would recommend staying till the evening, because the pier and the beach is magical when it gets dark.
