Mallorca: beautiful spot Cala Pí

Cala Pí, a photogenic place on the island of Mallorca, that’s today’s topic. If you’re looking for a short trip near the capital Palma de Mallorca., stick around. Cala Pí tis he right place for a day trip or is it? Let’s look at both sides of the coin today.

How to get to Cala Pí without a car?

Cala Pí is a visually pretty, photogenic place close to the capital Palma de Mallorca that you can get to even if you don’t want to rent a car. But pay attention to the timetables, they change during the summer, and uncle google doesn’t seem to have noticed it. You can’t rely too much on timetables, they run as they please, so although I took picture of them, it’s not worth posting them here. One thing is for sure – you will get here, but it will take time.

You can get to the beach quite easily, we went there by bus A2 to s’Arsenal, then 504 to Tolleric, and then 505. We arrived at Cala Pí in about three hours, considering the wait in Tolleric almost two hours. Before you panic, we only took 505 to s’Arsenal and then the A2 back, which took about an hour. It depends a lot on luck and how the buses meet. We arrived at our hotel Tent Capi Playa on the beach de s’Arsenal in an hour.

Buses here generally work well, although a bit incomprehensible to me, given that some don’t stop because they are full. But usually another, completely empty bus appears in a few minutes. It is also worth paying directly with the driver by card, it is cheaper than paying in cash. Or at least that’s what they claim. But be careful that when you leave, you have to beep again at the machine. Otherwise, you probably would get charge more.

Food and drink at Cala Pí

Well, let’s be honest, Cala Pí is not the best one when considering what to eat. There is one restaurant that opens until one, one fast food, and then one bar. Next, a shop where you can buy groceries, and that’s the end of it. We got here relatively hungry and ended up in fast food, hunger is the best cook after all. If you go straight to the beach, you can buy fresh fruit here. They drove around with a cart and offered everything from watermelon to coconut. As a refreshment, it is worth the small beach surcharge, you get a whole coconut, they cut it in front of you so you can eat it, for 5 euros.

A photogenic place made for your Instagram

The place is very popular thanks to the small niche spot where everyone likes to take pictures on Instagram. There is a queue for this place and some people really like to do their little photoshoot. You really can’t miss the place as you head down the steps to the beach, just turn left. At the end of the cliff we find another nice and calmer place in the photo (photo below). The place is really photogenic, the only downside really is how many people go here. So the question is, what are you willing to do and wait for one nice photo…

Cala Pí, an instagram friendly spot

Cala Pí is a famous tourist spot near the capital city of Palma de Mallorca, where people from all over the island come.

Cala Pi beach

The beach and the sea itself are quite below average to be very honest with you. The beach was very crowded, the sea rather dirty for my taste, very windy although too hot due to limited shadow. The beach is so small that you can walk from one end to the other in two minutes. There is a lifeguard, which is probably reassuring for some, considering what people are capable of doing, not so much. So he blows the whistle almost all the time, there are many screaming children around and there is nowhere to run away from it. Considering the ratio of people and occupancy, I personally cannot recommend it with a clear conscience.

In conclusion

Considering how negative I was in the last paragraph, I would like to conclude by saying that I do not regret the visit. Yes, there are definitely better places in Mallorca, but if you don’t want to go all over the island and rent a car, Cala Pí is a fairly good option. If I ever go to Mallorca again, I would like to see more of the eastern part of the island, so I will probably avoid Cala Pí next time.
