Interesting (un)hidden places in London

London is a beautiful city. It has lots of well-known sightseeing such as the Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Chinatown or Soho. But today, we will discover places that are great, but so many tourists miss them when visiting the UK’s capital.

Brixton

First spot is going to be Brixton which is located in the Southern London and is great for some street food and small local shops. There is an underground station called Brixton located on the Victoria line, so now you don’t have a proper excuse why not to visit. I strongly recommend visiting the Brixton Village which is a great place for some food and drinks. Don’t worry if it’s raining, it has a roof as well. You can buy some fresh vegetables, fruits or fish as well, but there are people selling phone cases as well. A mix of everything.

Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a shopping / food centre and it really looks like a garden. Opened from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm, Sunday from 11am to 6pm. So, there is plenty of time to visit and discover the beauty of it. My favourite beauty brand The Ordinary is located in there. For some tea shopping I’d say go to the Whittard. If your budget is slightly bigger, there are luxurious brands such as Channel, Lacoste or Charlotte Tilbury for your shoppings. The interesting thing are the street artists. You have to take part in the auditions and have to be selected. Otherwise, you’re not allowed to sing in the Covent Garden or make some magic tricks.

Bar Italia

Bar Italia is my favourite place in London. It reminds me a lot of Italy which is no wonder. Located on the 21 Frith Street, it has a long tradition of 70 years. When you walk in, you will hear the Italian tv, and even though the staff talk in English, you are able to order in Italian. It really feels like in Italy. As you might know, the bar is not only a bar in Italy. It offers coffee, sweets or something small to eat, so don’t worry if you’re hungry, you won’t be starving anymore.

Sky Garden

Sky Garden as the name says it all is a garden in the sky. It is also one of the best places for the views in London, plus is for FREE. You will need to book a ticket and go through the security, but sometimes you might be lucky and get in even without a ticket if there is a space. The prices of food and drinks are not too high which was quite surprising for me. The views are really great and the garden itself is impressive. You are allowed to stay for an hour, so make most of it!

Camden Market

If you’ve found the Covent Garden too small, I have even something better for you. Camden is a huge market that is made of smaller markets. It used to be stables and a hospital and was rebuilt into this incredibly big complex of different shops, markets, food and drink restaurants and cafes. You can download a map which might be useful as it is really easy to get lost in there.

Mercato Metropolitano

Last but not least, the final tip is Mercato Metropolitano. Yes, I’ve saved the best for the end. Not far away from the underground station Elephant&Castle is this beautiful and cool street food market. It has an unique atmosphere and is really nice place to go to with your friends. It offers different types of cuisines, beer, wine and everything that your heart desires.
