Erasmus traineeship, what to do after the arrival

You have arrived to your country for your Erasmus internship, you have completed all the necessary documents (more about paperwork you need to do before the internship), packed your stuff, and think about what to do when your internship starts. Let me explain it straightforward in following article

This section may vary, as most organizations are not universities. Therefore, please note that the information listed below concerns universities, even though some things are common to all institutions.

First stop

Do you start your internship at an university? Then one of the first things you will need to do is visiting the International / Erasmus office. They sign you in to their system, give you access details and all the necessary information. You will only need a passport or ID and your Learning agreement. The thing you need to ask them is Confirmation of stay. This is a confirmation confirming that you have arrived at your placement in the same term as you stated in your Learning Agreement, and you are physically in the place and you are starting to work. Be careful, your date needs to be the same as stated  in the Learning and Grant Agreement. You will need to send this confirmation to your home university to your Erasmus Coordinator.

If you are not at an university, you will need still need a Confirmations about your arrival, usually it is one of the conditions of the Erasmus grant agreement.

ESN office

I recommend visiting ESN office, which takes care of incoming students of Erasmus, offering various activities and trips. You can also get an ESN card that costs 10 euros (at least in Italy) and offers different discounts depending on where you are. ESN is probably one of the easiest ways to get to know the people who are also on Erasmus and to get to know the city you are in. I was with ESN for example in Bosa.

At the beginning of your stay, within four weeks, you may change your Learning Agreement, but all three parties must agree. Otherwise, you do not need to do anything else, just wait for your Erasmus grant which will normally land on your account within two weeks after sending the confirmation.
